From Two Brands to a Master-Brand Hierarchy in One CEO Meeting.

// The Problem

A multi-brand client was considering adding another product line. Without a coherent architecture, each new offering risked fragmenting the parent brand: separate websites, separate marketing budgets, separate customer confusion.

Leadership needed a decision framework before the next strategy conversation, and a polished deck that worked both as a live presentation and a standalone leave-behind. No agency. No six-week discovery phase.

// The Approach

I researched brand architecture models from companies that had solved this well. Adobe was the reference: a strong master brand with clearly named offerings underneath (Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator), each with its own identity but unmistakably part of the same family.

I proposed the same pattern: one master brand, named offerings underneath, shared visual language with room for segment-specific positioning. I built alternative naming conventions that maintained brand consistency while allowing each offering to speak to its specific audience.

The 15-slide deck was designed to do double duty: support a live presentation with the CEO driving the narrative, and stand alone as a leave-behind that an insurance committee member could read cold and still understand the strategic logic.

Brand fragmentation risk eliminated before launch. The master-brand architecture locked in a pattern that scales to future product lines without creating new brand identities each time. The deck was delivered, presented, and approved in a single meeting cycle.

The alternative was three separate brands, three separate marketing budgets, and customers who could not tell which product they were supposed to buy. That future was killed in one meeting.
